Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 8/28/13

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 8/28/13
Heb 6:10  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Heb 6:11  And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

You’ve done well, don’t let anything hinder you.  Don’t be distracted that you be your best.

Heb 6:12  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

It is so amazing the spirits in the world that war against people.  Don’t be slothful!  Keep following those whose faith inherits the promises.  They had patience.  Faith and patience travel together.

Everyone in this audience probably had phone calls, interactions, or burdens come to your mind that really put a heavy burden on you.  That is not bad.  Remember to have faith and don’t forget the patience.  Faith and patience travel together.

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We have many prayer requests tonight.  Some were new, brought in tonight and some were repeated.  Some were unspoken.  There is the law of faith is taught in the Bible.  It is a good law.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for.  It is vital that we don’t have the thought of, “I believe this will happen because the hair on my head stood up.”  Faith is the substance; it is real and is given to us by God.

Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

To every one of us is given a measure of faith.

It is vital that we hold onto faith.  There are many things that war against our faith, voices of unbelief, people that will either give you words or tell by their life, “Don’t plan on me getting saved.”  Faith is not going on what they are saying is going to happen, but on what we believe that God will do.  God knows how to bring men and women to a place of brokenness.

Heb 11:2  For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Heb 11:3  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Genesis 1:1-3 is inspiring.  God looked upon what he had done and said, “It is good.”  God created this world out of nothing.  He is God.  When we are seeking God, He has avenues past what we can think of to work with a soul.

God said “Let there be light” and there was light.  He said this before the sun was created.  He can make something from nothing.

God is a God of compassion.  This is told us this over and over again in the Old Testament.  There were two blind men that were where Jesus was passing by.  They began to cry out to God.  When the disciples and the crowd tried to hush them it did not affect them.  They knew that Jesus would be passing by again.

We are in the Spirit on the Lords day and the presence of God is there.  We cry out to God; we need what only He can supply.  The blind men cried out to God and Jesus said, “Bring them to me.”

The expression of God is His Son and He shows so much compassion.

I think of these requests.  50 years in darkness and isn’t it a marvel what God can do for them?  Brother Pat was in his nineties.  God began to speak to him and he became broken and contrite and God saved him.

Heb 11:4  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith Able knew what God wanted him to do and how God wanted him to worship.  Isn’t it wonderful that he was uninfluenced by his brother who was full of unbelief and did not want to worship God God’s way?

Heb 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Don’t beat yourself up when the enemy comes and attacks your mind against faith.  He is as a roaring lion and will do his very best to distract you from having faith in God.  He will roar around with all sorts of noises and temptations, accusations and things that have no spiritual value.  He will do anything that he can to penetrate your mind so that you enter into a mind battle and are not doing anything to exercise faith.

Gird up the loins of your mind.  Get everything tucked in.  Sometimes we need to get a hold of our brain: “We are going to tuck things in tight.  We don’t want anything to hinder us from getting our mind anchored in faith in God.”

He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Think soberly:  I have really been thinking seriously about the value of being sober minded.  I thought of some in this audience in a good way.  When we are sober minded one of the first things that we are praying for is wisdom.

I was thinking of Brother Davis.  He has 4 grandchildren.  Two of them are in Canada.  I am a grandfather with three grandchildren.  I was thinking soberly about these grandchildren and praying soberly today.  I was praying for their parents that they would be sober-minded.  God said, “When people become sober minded and begin to seek my face and cry out for wisdom, the first thing that I give them is the fear of God.”

I thought of Brother Davis’ grandchildren in Canada.  Oh that they would think sober-minded and begin to pray and ask God for wisdom.  They are young adults.  The decisions they make are important.  Our grandchildren have been given a measure of faith.  So have the grand children of Brother Davis.

Rom 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

God told Paul that He would deliver him from the people, make him a minister, and give him an inheritance among those that are sanctified.

In order to be sanctified we must believe that God will do the work and will do it His way if we pay the price.

Heb 10:38  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

The just shall live by faith

2Co 5:7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

1Pe 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Sometimes I feel that I am just a little leaf in the wind and feel that I am nothing in myself.  Think of the power of God that is yours through faith to be kept.  Isn’t it wonderful?  There is a positive side to hymn stories and there is a heartbreaking side.

‘He lifted me out’ was written in twenty minutes by a man that was so burdened that he was praying earnestly and fervently as he went to a camp-meeting at Anderson.

“I was out on the broad way of sin and despair, crushed ‘neath the burden of sorrow and care; my constant companions were trouble and doubt, ‘til Jesus reached down and lifted me out…”

He and his helpers sang this song and the Spirit of God moved on that camp-meeting.  They had an altar call that lasted an hour and a half in 1936.  Souls started coming to the altar and coming to the altar.

The power of God is just as real today as it was in that day.

We are kept by faith.  Don’t lose what we got.  Go for more of God.  Press forward in the good things of God.

He 6 13 when God made promise he couldn’t swear by any greater

I will bless and I will multiply.  Abraham patiently endured the waiting.

Abraham caused himself a lot of trouble by not waiting on God and his wife caused trouble by not waiting on God.  Believe God; don’t get ahead of God.  God keeps his promise.

God is not slack concerning His promise.
