Sister Timberly Sunday School 7/7/13
Two attitudes in waiting on God: impatience or worry that
hinder from the right attitude of waiting on God and inspired waiting. We want to have inspired waiting.
The little bird gathering twigs in a dangerous waterfall to
build a nest is working while waiting.
The baby birds with open mouths waiting in the nest are expecting good
things while waiting. The flying eagle
in the waterfall is being brave while waiting.
We are all waiting for answers to prayer, souls to be saved,
and progress in our soul. God will not
disappoint us in any of these. He will
give us good things while we wait.
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as
eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and
they shall walk, and not faint.
Waiting on God can renew our strength. When we are weary and tired, if we get into
the right attitude of waiting it will renew our strength. The right attitude while waiting is faith and
submission while waiting on God. We have
faith that God has a higher plan than ours and then we need to submit to his
will.
Wait with expectancy from God, both resting in Him and
fighting. The whole armor is a beautiful
picture of how to rest and fight at the same time. Stand with the whole armor on and pray and
let God fight the battle.
We are on the last picture of the lesson, the flying eagle
with bravery:
Psa 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he
shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
It is God that gives us our strength. When I feel week and shaky then this
scripture helps me. “Settle down and let
God be your strength.”
Psa 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man
who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Being brave is getting our eyes off of people and getting
them on God and resting in His strength.
Psa 130:6 My soul waiteth
for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
Have you ever been awake all night and struggling with
something, waiting for the Lord, we need to be as the eagle, brave in waiting.
Rom 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer;
While we are being brave, rejoice, sing and be patient in
tribulation and continue instant in prayer.
Tit 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate,
sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
We need to have patience, be temperate, do all we know to
do, and hold faith and love and God will work.
When we get our eyes on God and realize that He is the one doing the
work then it makes it simple.
Brother Bill - When talking about
Abraham, he waited for the promise of having a son for many years.
Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine,
the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am
the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
It was sometime after this when he
finally received his son. I wonder if
that is the way that works: God works
and tries our patience while we are waiting.
There are things that we go through in life and if we will go through
things right with patience, (cheerful endurance), going through as we should,
God is waiting for a perfecting to take place.
Before he ever received the promise, God told him to walk before Him and
be perfect.
Psa 144:1 A Psalm
of David. Blessed be the LORD my
strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and
my fingers to fight:
He will teach us if we will have patience.
See ourselves as an eagle, leaving the earthly problems
below, get your eyes on Heaven and God, and be encouraged.
Psa 84:7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
When you feel that you need to take a stand in your
experience with people or with yourself.
It is hard to do at first but after you do it, it makes the next time easier. It makes it easier to do what is right in the
future too. Go from strength to
strength.
My burden for today is that we need to wait in one accord
with each other and with God. The way to be one with each other is to be one
with God.
Act 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after
his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and
speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart
from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father,
which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized
with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
They were waiting for a really big thing. He had commanded them to not depart until the
gift of the Holy Ghost had been given.
Maybe there were temptations to leave at this time. We need to wait until God comes. The biggest factor in any situation is
God. Have faith in that.
Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues
like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,
and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews,
devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Act 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude
came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in
his own language.
Act 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled,
saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
Act 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue,
wherein we were born?
Act 2:9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the
dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
Act 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the
parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Act 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in
our tongues the wonderful works of God.
Act 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt,
saying one to another, What meaneth this?
Act 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of
new wine.
Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven,
lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto
you, and hearken to my words:
Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose,
seeing it is but the third hour of the
day.
Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the
prophet Joel;
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days,
saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old
men shall dream dreams:
Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I
will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and
signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and
the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
They were all in one accord waiting for this to happen. They obeyed the plan and that is why it
happened. It is not something mysterious
when the presence of God comes to join us.
We’ve had it happen many times.
How do we wait in one accord?
Php 2:1 If there be
therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship
of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Php 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded,
having the same love, being of one
accord, of one mind.
Php 2:3 Let
nothing be done through strife or
vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than
themselves.
Php 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but
every man also on the things of others.
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in
Christ Jesus:
They were of one accord in verse two. In verse three it tells us how. Realize and appreciate each other. In the world today there is a spirit of
arrogancy, “That doesn’t impress me.” We
need to be impressed with each other.
Take time to be all about someone else.
It takes time and effort to do this.
Verse 4 would teach us to be more into what someone else has
going on than into what you have going on.
I want to complement the saints and thank them for they really are like
this already.
The third point would be to help someone else gain their
potential. Not just climbing the ladder
yourself but helping someone else to climb that ladder.
Believe in children, encourage them and know that they can
do it. To the teachers, you don’t always
know what you are doing when you do this.
You don’t know what God is accomplishing through you. You are being an encouragement to those that
have not had that. You don’t know what
God can do through a true saint being in the position of a teacher.
God is going to do works through us and accomplish really
good things through our lives. Remember
the story of David when there were three that risked their lives to get water
from the well in Bethlehem for him. He
poured out the water from the well that he loved because they had risked their
lives. He poured it out to the
lord. We want to do this with anything
that we accomplish for the Lord.
How do we wait in one accord? Be eagles, expect good things, and work
together.
Act 18:12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the
Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the
judgment seat,
This is an example of people being in one accord for the wrong
purpose. Be careful that we don’t let
someone get our ear and we join into a wrong ‘gang-like’. If we are in one accord with God then we will
be in one accord with God’s people.
Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in
the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart,
Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the
people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
After God visited it brought peace and joy and bore fruit.
Act 8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto
those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
In order for us to receive the good out of what Brother Gary
says to us, it takes the right mindset.
We need to be one accord with God so that His Word fulfills the purpose
of God in our heart.
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always
obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out
your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to
will and to do of his good pleasure.
Amen.
