Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 8/8/12

Brother Gary Wednesday Evening 8/8/12
Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

This is a law of God.  No one is exempt from it.  If there are those that choose to leave God out of their lives, the law is still the same.

Gal 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

The scripture tells us that all that is in the world are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.  Everyone here knows this: the lusts of the flesh only leave people really empty.

The lusts of the eyes are whatever it is that people want to see: homes, a boat, a car, animals...  There is nothing wrong with having any of them, but to make Gods of them is wrong.  They will not satisfy; they will just leave men and women empty.

The pride of life: people want to elevate themselves and their accomplishments.  While we know that if it wasn’t for God then we wouldn’t even be able to breathe.

The Holy Spirit of God leads, guides, and directs and also gives us good balance.  It can be a real staff to us.  It holds us steady.

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

If you feel tired in the place of labor that God has placed you in, don’t be weary in well doing.  “In due season you will reap if you faint not.”

Our garden this year was plant and replant.  That is how it is sometimes with what God wants us to do.  We get started and do well, but after a while it gets wearisome.  We want to continue and faint not.  In due season you will reap.

Gal 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

We live in a mean, cold world.  We really need each other.  Yes, be good to those in the grocery store, and appreciate people that help you.  This scripture goes a little further: really be good to those of the household of faith.

Be good to your neighbors, but when you have the saints, put an extra apple in that pie.  Let your brother and sister know that you really appreciate them no matter who is around.  It takes Jesus to make you warm.  It takes Jesus to cause you to love your brother and sister in Christ.  We need to let our brothers and sisters in Christ know that we really appreciate them.

It is a sacrifice to be in the house of God.  Gasoline is expensive.  I know that there are times when your work and things keep you from being early, but it is nice when you come in and there is someone there telling you hello and that they are glad that you are here.

Gal 6:11  Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
Gal 6:12  As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

There are those that are requiring something on the outside.  Religious people only have to be religious: they don’t have to know Jesus Christ, they don’t have to pray or be baptized the bible way.

Jesus went down into the water and we are to follow His example.  He didn’t say to repent and be sprinkled.  He said to repent and be baptized.  It is being buried in the water.  We died to sin life and didn’t stay buried in sin but rose to newness of life.

The most important thing to these people was circumcision.  Some think that you shouldn’t wear a necktie, others that you shouldn’t worship with music.  God has ordained that we make melody with music and not only in our heart; the Bible is full of music.  People can make a big issue of their hang up.

Gal 6:13  For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
Gal 6:14  But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

The world must be dead.  If the world is speaking to you and you listen, then it will get you.  It doesn’t just appeal to the young, the good looking, or the strong.  You can be 108 years old and still love the world.   You can be eight years old and still dead to the world.  The only way this can happen is through the cross of Jesus Christ.  “Take this world but give me Jesus.”

Gal 6:15  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

It isn’t an outward act that saves you; it takes repentance from the heart.  New creature:  This is the reason that alcoholics can change, they become a new creature in Jesus Christ.  Someone that has been hateful can love, the angry can be peaceful, and the one that cussed doesn’t cuss any more.

Gal 6:16  And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

The only way that we will have peace in our soul is if we have become a new creature in Christ Jesus and maintain that experience before God.

Psa 85:8  I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

There is one thing that we want to remember:  When things are disturbing, if we will get alone with God, He will speak peace.

“Let them not turn again to folly or silliness.”  It is important to know how to have a good time but not open the door to the enemy in the good time.

Isa 66:12  For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

We are living in a world full of trouble and turmoil, heartache and sorrow.  We don’t know what will happen tomorrow or today.  God doesn’t want us to have a crisis mentality of “I’m upset because of this or that.”

You will face difficulty; this is a part of life.  Everything isn’t going to go easy.  There will be times when for those in real estate that sales are tough.  Not every recipe will go easy for the good cook.  For the school teacher, not everything will go easy.  God has promised that He will “extend peace to her like a river”.  This is big and that is the reason that it has to come from God.

God will bear you when you need to be carried.  And set you on His knee.  It is a wonderful season when the children want to be on our lap.  We are still little children: every once in a while we need to sit down with the heavenly father and let him caress us.  God extends peace like a river.

If it seems that you are going over white water rapids, stay in the boat, he will send peace when you get on down the river a little.

When you feel like, “God I’m here praying and I’m as a little child.  I need someone to take care of me.”  God comes down and says, “Son or daughter, I’ll take care of you.”
