The New Covenant.
Isa 62:10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye
the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones;
lift up a standard for the people.
This is what I’m trying to do. Cast up the highway. There are so many wrong teachings out there;
that you can do wrong and still go to heaven.
It makes me shake my head, the people that I rub elbows with in life and
what they think it takes to be saved. I
am trying to lift up the standard.
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to
come, and not the very image of the
things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year
continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be
offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more
conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices
there is a remembrance again made
of sins every year.
In the Old Testament time they offered sacrifices and
offerings every year. It was for that
time, but it would not do the real work in men and women’s hearts that God
intended to be done in the heart. They
yearly had to make the sacrifices because it didn’t give them the experience so
that they could live holy.
The things of the Law were pointing toward a better day, ‘the
shadow of good things to come’. There
are those that look at the scriptures and think, ‘Someday, we are going to be
able to reign over sin and all that.’
That someday is today.
‘Today is the day of salvation.’ Salvation means deliverance
from sin, help today in life, victory that God has for us in this experience if
we will give our hearts to Him with no reservation. We cannot try to hold back some sin but all must
be given to God and nothing withheld.
God has victory over sin for us.
There is no drunkard, druggy, or person full of hatred that
God cannot save. There is no special
attribute or being from a good family that makes it easy for one to serve God but
not another. The genetics being just
right so that one could serve God would have left me out. There is not one that is born on the wrong
side of the tracks and therefore has no chance.
‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
God was not satisfied with the Law as a finished plan.
Heb 10:4 For it is
not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he
saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared
me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
God was just not satisfied with it.
Jesus said, “A body thou hast prepared me.” The sacrifices and offerings could not do
it.
Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he
hath put him to grief: when thou shalt
make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his
seed, he shall prolong his days, and the
pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my
righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
He ‘shall be satisfied’.
The lambs and the offerings of bullocks, God was not happy with that as a
final product. The sacrifice of Jesus
was the answer. God was satisfied with
that.
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not
redeemed with corruptible things, as
silver and gold, from your vain conversation received
by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of
a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Our salvation came not from corruptible things; Jesus was
the sacrifice, His precious blood.
Nothing else could have satisfied God.
Whatever sins you had in your life whether you were raised on the church
pew or out deep in sin like I was, you had to get saved.
Being raised on the church pew is not enough. ‘All have sinned and come short of the glory
of God.’ No matter how good you were,
being good does not merit salvation.
However deep you go in sin, however high in society you are, we all have
to be saved.
His hand reached farther down, Ps 40 ‘He brought me up also out
of a horrible pit.’ The sides on that
pit were so steep that there was no way that you could get out on your
own. He died on the cross and paid the
ransom for you that you could be saved.
If people just kneel down and ask God to forgive them then
He will save them. Going to a store and
looking at shampoos, dry, oily, or conditioner, that is complicated, but
getting saved is easy. If you do repent,
are through with all that you know is wrong and ready to do all that God will
show you is right, and really mean it in your heart then God will save you.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the
book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering
and burnt offerings and offering for sin
thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein;
which are offered by the law;
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O
God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
The Old Covenant is done away with, Jesus brought in a way
that we could be saved from our sins. Now,
today!
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through
the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for
all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering
and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one
sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be
made his footstool.
Jesus did a complete work.
He just had to die once, forever.
‘Until his enemies be made his footstool’: His enemies are those that
are not saved. He has done everything
and the way is all set up for them to be saved.
It is like you’re going fishing, you have the can of worms, the
fishing hat on, you have the pole there and you’re all prepared. Everything is ready for you to catch
fish. He has done all the provision,
there is no excuse; He has done everything right now for men to be saved. The day of salvation is right now.
Now He is just expecting as He draws on people’s
hearts. You may be in your home and
thinking, there has to be more to life than this, I’m just not happy. There is something that comes to you and
draws you to get your life right and serve God.
That is the Spirit of God drawing on your heart.
When I got saved, I didn’t know very much but I knew that
God had drawn on my heart and I needed to get saved.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for
ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof
the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is
the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I
will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
These are not just words, we know because we gave our heart
to God when we got saved. I remember God
convicting me of something and later I found out it was in the scriptures. He puts the law in your heart and writes it
in our minds. This is the new covenant.
Before I got saved, I could not say ‘no’ to sin, I remember
after I got saved how I realized maybe two weeks after that I wasn’t doing the
certain evil that I used to give into.
In the New Covenant experience He puts the law in our hearts. This is today. It is made available today.
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember
no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter
into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath
consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
The sin business stops, so He remembers it no more. There is no need for any other offering. The offering that Jesus produced was
sufficient and did the work. It was no
halfway thing, it paid the price. God
gave a part of Himself for man. How puny
man is and how nothing we are yet He gave His son to die on the cross for us so
that we could be saved.
Eze 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you,
and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will
I cleanse you.
The clean water is the word, ‘washing of water by the word’. That which makes us clean on the inside is
the word of God. Washing on the outside
will not do it.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new
spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your
flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
This is what the New Covenant does.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and
cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
‘Cause you.’ This is not a type error. He causes us to walk right before him.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I
will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made
with their fathers in the day that I
took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant
they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith
the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their
hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his
neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all
know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for
I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
In the Old Testament time, they broke God’s covenant. They did not keep the Word of God. Now we can have a personal experience with
God. We can know God and have a
knowledge of what God desires.
In the Old Testament time, they heard the word of God
through the prophets. Now it is from the
least to the greatest, everyone can have access to the throne of God. Everyone can hear from God and know God. This time is now. It is available now.
Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good
things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands,
that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but
by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained
eternal redemption for us.
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and
the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of
the flesh:
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the
new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions
that were under the first testament,
they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Eternal redemption: the plan of God is that we get saved and
stay saved. Eternal redemption, because
God has given us an experience where we can live right day by day by day.
Jesus offered himself without spot to God. Eternal redemption…eternal inheritance. The plan of God is that people get saved,
stay saved, and enjoy this life and life in heaven forever.
