Brother Gyme Sunday School 7/27/14 (abbreviated)

Brother Gyme Sunday School 7/27/14
Jas 5:1  Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

Deu 8:10  When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
Deu 8:11  Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
Deu 8:12  Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
Deu 8:13  And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
Deu 8:14  Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

We are instructed to remember where we came from and when things are going good to remember why they are going good.  It is because of God.  Those that trust in riches will weep and howl for the misery that is come upon them.

In Psalms David thought he saw how everything was going good for the sinner.  Then he came into the house of God and he saw how things really were.  The end of that thing is always destruction.

Mar 4:19  And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Jas 5:2  Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

The instruction to us is to for both literal and spiritual riches: they can corrupt.  Remember in the scripture of the Laodicean church?  They were rich and increased with goods and thought they had need of nothing.

Jas 5:3  Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Their riches were moth eaten, corrupt, putrefied.  It is not wrong to have riches, but if you trust in them then your garments will be moth eaten.

The gold and silver, when not used properly, becomes cankered.  Maybe they are storing it up.

When we get filled up we have to give out or it will become stale and rotten.  They had to use the manna up or it would spoil and become rotten.

In Luke 6 after all the ‘blessed are ye’ scriptures it says, woe to you that are rich, full, laugh…

Luk 6:24  But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Luk 6:25  Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
Luk 6:26  Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

We are to have our wealth submitted to God.  Those that are rich and not giving to God are what it is talking about.  A poor man that is not giving to God is the same.  That which you are hanging onto are corrupted and motheaten.

This is to all people that are keeping their affections from being settled on God, it doesn’t matter if you have $.25 or $25,000,000.

The spiritual riches are the truths that we have.  We could become complacent, “We have the truth.”  And forget what we came from and where we were, keeping the truths to ourselves and not doing what God would have us to do to rescue others.

It is not enough to have the truth.  It is how it is applied.  Keep things in their proper place.

Jas 5:4  Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
Jas 5:5  Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

They are self centered.  Everything is all about them and for them.  They are gathering riches for themselves.
If we are in that position, He will hear the cry of the oppressed.  There will be a time when there is an end to that.  There is a set time.  There comes a day when the judgment is set upon them and the one that is oppressed is freed.

All this is in a season as far as the literal.

Jas 5:6  Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Mat 16:26  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mat 13:22  He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

The deceitfulness of riches is thinking that somehow that will sustain us.  People are deceived by this.  They think that there is a security in a 401K.  We can have durable riches that cannot be corrupted.

We can have the true riches.  We see example over and over again of how money doesn’t satisfy people.  The new gun, the new car will not satisfy.  If you look for it to then it will corrupt and rot, and rust.

The true riches is the only thing that we can take with us.
