Bro Gary Wednesday PM 8/17/11

Bro Gary Wednesday PM 8/17/11
Heb 9:1  Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
Heb 9:2  For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
Heb 9:3  And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
Heb 9:4  Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

Review of the items in the temple:

1.        The Golden Censor carries fire.  The fire often represents the Word of God.
Jer 23:29  Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

We must have the Word of God alive in our lives in order for us to be spiritual alive.  We need the fire so that that which should not be in our lives should be burned up.  We don’t want to hang onto anything that would not be pleasing to God.

2.       The Ark of the Covenant represents God dwelling among us.  God wants to dwell among us.  Many think that God is angry all the time.  They don’t know the true God.  He is angry at sin, but God’s design is to be a heavenly father.  It takes God to fill the emptiness of our life.
3.       The Golden Pot of Manna means that there is food and strength for the journey.  The Bible teaches us to not be weary in well doing.  We must have a source of strength in order for us to not be weary.  The Word of God is bread to us.

4.       Aaron’s rod:  The twelve rods that were put in there were to show that God had anointed Aaron to be His high priest.  Only Aaron’s rod budded, blossomed, and bloomed.  He is a type of Jesus Christ, our High Priest.
Isa 35:1  The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
Isa 35:2  It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

The desert shall blossom and shall be as Lebanon.  There is no question that a forest is beautiful.  The trees were also used to build the temple for God.  God has designed that we be beautiful trees of righteousness and He has designed that He use us as His servants in the temple of God.

The desert shall become as Carmel.  Carmel was a place of beautiful gardens.  It is refreshing to look at a garden and wonderful to eat from a garden.  The spiritual thought is that our soul should be as a watered garden.  The seed is the word of God, but we cannot become a garden on our own.  God must send the rain and there must be sunshine.  A desert can become a beautiful garden of the Lord.

A garden is refreshing and a beautiful place to go to meditate.  When we feel ourselves struggling spiritually we go into the garden of the Lord and ask Him to help us find what we need in His Word.

The desert shall be as Sharon.  We say God when you send the word I want it to fall on good ground; I want to take care of it.  I don’t want to abuse it or allow it to be trampled or something to get in and eat up the seed.

5.       The tables of the Covenant were the tables that God gave to Moses that contained the Ten Commandments.  We are blessed to have a bible and are blessed to be able to own our own bible.

Ps 138:8 David loved God and was inspired to write: “Thou hast magnified thy word above all they name.  Each of us will be faced with people that will tell us that God told them something that the Bible doesn’t say.  When a voice teaches contrary to what the word of God teaches then it must be another voice.  God has magnified His word above His name.  He has great respect for the Word of God.

God has great respect for His word.  He gave Moses the first five books of the Bible so that you and I would know who created the sun and the earth, the moon and the stars.  God didn’t stop there.  He is so awesome that He also knows all the stars by their name.  He knows the name of what we have never seen or named.

He set up all the works of nature.  The sun and moon rise in the east and set in the west.  The moon affects the ocean and causes the tides…

God created an account and told us of the first man and how he was created.  He was created of the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils and Man became a living soul.  There is a natural body and there is a spiritual body.

Because Moses broke the first set of the tables of Stone:

Exo 34:1  And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
Exo 34:2  And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

It is good to anticipate God speaking to you every morning.  God told Moses to be ready in the morning.
Exo 34:3  And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

If you are parents, have devotions with your children, but there are times that you need to be alone with God.  There are times when we need to enter into the closet and say, “God you and I are together because I need to have communion with you.  I need to come to you and I need you to come to me.”

Neither let the flocks:  There are times when we get alone with God that we have to struggle to not bring what we need to do with us.  God help me to not be over charged with the things of life.

Exo 34:4  And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

God had previously written on the stones with His own finger.  Can you imagine being there talking to God and the finger of God coming down and writing on the tables of stone?

There is something better than that:

Jer 31:31  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33  But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34  And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

God says that He will write His law in our hearts.  When we get saved, we come to God with a black and calloused heart.  When we get saved He gives us a new heart and a new spirit and takes the responsibility of writing His word on the fleshly tables of our heart.

This is the reason that the bible tells us to study to show thyself approved…

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

There are some things that we immediately understand about serving God after we get saved.  We know that we want to please Him.  He writes His law on our heart.

There are a lot of things that God will teach you as you go.  God causes the tender conscience of a child to know that they need to obey their mom and dad.  God teaches the husbands to be a good husband.  He teaches us how to love our brother and sister.

God knows how to write on our soul.  We are not staying where we were.  God will be writing on our soul as we age, how to be a saved older gentleman.  As I age you saints will not want to hear about all my aches and pains.  You’ll want me to talk about something other than my grandchildren.

God has a way of writing things on our heart.  We must have a heart that is tender before God.  We must practice being alone with God and having things on our mind besides the things of this world.

Heb 10:1  For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

The law had a lot of good things, but God had something better to come.

God gave promises when Jesus came:

1Pe 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Php 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

God said that “I have something a whole lot better than the tables of stone.  I’ll give you a new heart and a new spirit.”

Heb 10:16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

The Law of God is not a binding law; it is a law of love and a law of obedience.  We have it written on our heart and what He has spoken to us, our heart says amen.  We want to do them because they are life to us.
He said that He would put His law in our minds.  It is wonderful that in our heart and our mind we don’t want to go into sin.

God writes His truth on the fleshly tables of our heart.  There is a vast difference between serving God and having to obey a bunch of rules.  It is not anything other than serving God and doing what is right because we love God.

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Scripture profitable for doctrine…

I’m glad that I know who Jesus is.  I’m glad that I know that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost agree in one.  I’m glad that I know that Jesus became the sacrifice for my sin.

I’m glad that I know that the scripture is given for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…

Let the Word reprove us, if you are wondering what you should do or how you should handle this or that go to the word.  It is given that the man of God may be thoroughly finished unto all good works.
