Sister Sunny Sunday Evening 3/24/13

Sister Sunny Sunday Evening 3/24/13
Psa 125:1  A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
Psa 125:2  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

It is wonderful that even as the enemy encompasses the camp of the Saints to try to destroy, the Lord is round about His people to protect and to shelter them.

Those that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion.

Trust - H982 בּטח bâṭach
BDB Definition:
1) to trust
1a) (Qal)
1a1) to trust, trust in
1a2) to have confidence, be confident
1a3) to be bold
1a4) to be secure
1b) (Hiphil)
1b1) to cause to trust, make secure
2) (TWOT) to feel safe, be careless

When the difficult times come, when you can see no way out, when your humanity can see no hope or no reason for the situation that you are in, trust in the Lord.  We know His authority and character.  His authority is supreme and His character is holy, without fault, and loving.  He will be true to His Word.

He has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He has told us that the thoughts that He has for us are thoughts of good and not evil to give us an expected end, and He has promised that all things work together for good to them that love Him and are the called according to His purpose.

Jer 17:7  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Jer 17:8  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Hope in the Lord.  Don’t listen to the discouraging whispers you hear in your ear.  Stand against the wrong attitudes that you will be tempted to embrace.  Keep a diligent guard on your mind and your heart that you don’t turn to the right hand or the left.

Blessed is the man that trusts in the Lord.  Happy is the man that trusts in the Lord, for he shall be helped.  He will not be forsaken.  He shall be as a tree planted by the waters.  He will continue growing and bearing fruit even in the difficult times.  He doesn’t need to fear or worry about the circumstances of life.

Psa 147:11  The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

Takes pleasure in - H7521 רצה râtsâh
BDB Definition:
1)      to be pleased with, be favourable to, accept favourably

The Lord is pleased with those that hope in Him and fear Him.  He accepts them and is favorable to them.  He wants us to have our eyes on Him rather than the immediate difficulty.  It is a matter of focus.  If we focus on the difficulty then it will be difficult to hope in God and His mercy.  If we can put it in His lap and let Him work what He desires and focus on Him then He will be favorable to us.

Shall be as mount Zion:

H6726 ציּון tsîyôn tsee-yone'
The same (regular) as H6725; Tsijon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem: - Zion.

H6725 ציוּן tsîyûn tsee-yoon'
From the same as H6723 in the sense of conspicuousness (compare H5329); a monumental or guiding pillar: - sign, title, waymark.

They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion.  Two things we see in these definitions of Zion:  the thought of permanence and the thought of being a waymark.  If we will trust in the Lord, He will establish us and help us to know how to be a waymark that can help others find the way.  We must be willing to be conspicuous and be willing to use our influence to help others find the way.

Which cannot be removed:
H4131 מוט môṭ mote'
A primitive root; to waver; by implication to slip, shake, fall: - be carried, cast, be out of course, be fallen in decay, X exceedingly, fall (-ing down), be (re-) moved, be ready shake, slide, slip.

If we trust in the Lord we see the promise here that we will not slip.  We will not be carried out of course or waver.  We will not fall into decay or be removed.  What a wonderful promise!

But abideth forever:
H3427 ישׁב yâshab yaw-shab'
A primitive root; properly to sit down by implication to dwell, to remain; causatively to settle, to marry: - endure, establish, (make to) inhabit (-ant), make to keep [house], remain, take, tarry.

Psa 132:13  For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
Psa 132:14  This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

If we will trust in the Lord, He will dwell in us.  He will rest in us forever.

Isa 12:6  Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

We want the Holy One of Israel to be in the midst of us.  If we don’t have that then we don’t have anything.

Isa 14:32  What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

The Lord has founded Zion.  He planned her, established her, and gave His son a sacrifice for her.  We are His.  We can trust in Him.  The humble shall trust in Him.  We want to be humble.

Isa 51:16  And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

He will put His words in our mouth and be over and around us to protect and help us.  He desires to forward His work and help His people.

Isa 52:1  Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Awake, put on your strength, the Lord is your strength, trust in the Lord.
