Brother Gary Sunday Morning 3/3/13
1Ch 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God
of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for
the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the
thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him,
he will cast thee off for ever.
David had many new beginnings in his life. Here he was coming to the end of his personal
pilgrimage and God used Him to prepare his son and others for a new beginning.
Today, March 3, 2013, we feel strong conviction that God has
a new beginning for us.
The thought of a new beginning doesn’t mean that you have
backslid or are in trouble with God. Through
life God has a way of bringing some things to an end. It doesn’t mean that it was a bad thing or
that you were out of order, just that God has a plan and a purpose.
“Solomon, know the God of thy father.”
As we read you will see where David called a very serious
assembly. There are times in our life
when various assemblies are called.
March 17th there will be a serious assembly in Miami. Bro Figeroa will speak to his congregation for
the last time as pastor. He says that he
has serious things to say.
This father David was 70 years old. He was indeed a champion. He didn’t get to build the temple, but it was
in his heart. He was gifted in the
thought that he knew quite a bit about worship.
He had the desire to build a marvelous temple for God.
God is calling his church to a solemn assembly throughout
the world. He wants us to build a
tabernacle for Him to dwell in. It is
spiritual tabernacle; it cannot be touched with human hands.
David desired a place for the footstool of God, a place
where God could rest. God chose Solomon
to build that house. David was convicted
to instruct the congregation to keep the commandments and the Word of God. There is no greater instruction than this. Keep the word of God!
David then told them that the blessing would be that Solomon
would possess great lands. God wants us
to fully possess and enjoy Beulah and Canaan.
David instructed Solomon and the children of Israel that
they must leave an inheritance for their children. I’m not worried about leaving our children or
grandchildren money this morning. I want
to leave, and I want to challenge you to leave, a testimony that you know
God.
We want to leave the testimony that we walked and lived for
God. God gave me a chorus on being a
living sacrifice. I am convinced that
there are depths that I haven’t reached that I need to reach.
Solomon my son, know the God of your father. I studied on the word ‘know’. I thought that I knew all about that word,
but I was inspired to look up about knowing God.
God is saying to Gary Kelly and I am saying to you, “Know
God, acknowledge God, acquaint yourself with God.”
We all could say that we have family that we really don’t
know. It may never work out that we know
them, but it is vital that we acquaint ourselves with God our father.
You may feel that you are a long ways from where God wants
you to be. I’m really glad that you are
here. God wants us to be graced with the
beautiful robes of righteousness, with the robes of truth. He wants our life to be so beautiful that as
He told us, “He would beautify the meek with salvation.”
He said, “Jerusalem, put on your beautiful garments.” We have been taught to be clean and to look
our best for the house of God. This is
good teaching and God has given us a good wife and even saints that help us to
dress in a way that is appropriate.
We want to go past this to how we can acquaint ourselves
with God and to those things that make mothers, fathers, and those in the
congregation beautiful. We can only do
this as we acquaint ourselves with God.
As we humble ourselves with God then he gives us that
beautiful garment of humility and of praise.
Put on your beautiful garments.
We feel so blessed, over and over again the saints say, “How
did we ever find God and truth? How did
we find the place where iron sharpens iron?
How did we find the place where we could experience worship?”
God, we want to get better acquainted with you. We want to be at the place where David said,
“Son, know God.” I think I can hear some
of you in my mind’s ear saying, “Son, know God.”
There would be more than just moms and dads, there would be
more than the pastor. It would be the
heart beat of everyone in this congregation this morning that every young
person in this audience would know God and acquaint themselves with God so that
their minds and hearts are not scarred.
Valor for the masculine has the same meaning as the word
virtue has for the feminine. Acquaint
yourself before God so that we as men will have valor, strength of character,
and so that the women would have virtue, moral excellence.
As we work to the mark of seventy and as others have worked
past that mark, acquaint yourselves with God.
May it become real in our heart, in our soul, in our spirit lest we fail
to possess the land and leave that inheritance for our children.
Comprehend is also what the word, ‘know’ God, means. The three things that belong only to God: He
is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.
The omnipresent God, wherever your sons or daughters are,
wherever that other little Hailey is this morning, God can be there.
There are those in this audience that will be here every
Sunday for however long and their hearts will not be healed yet. For the saints, we will miss Brother Herb so
much. We knew that one day he would
go. We knew that He was here Jan 3 and
Jan 11, I have a vivid memory of those days.
There will be an emptiness without Him. I set aside Tuesday nights to go visit
him. He will not be there this Tuesday
night. May we comprehend God, all present,
all knowing, and all powerful.
To know God means to be diligent. David was going to die and there was going to
be a new king. Solomon would no longer
be the twenty year old without responsibility.
With knowing God there is the vital part of being diligent.
Knowing God means to be ‘endued with’. To know God means to come to God. Not just to go through the form, but to come
to God. It is so vital to come to God.
Knowing God means to mark.
You know how you mark things so that you can be sure to find them. There are some things about knowing God that
you can mark. You can mark the secret
closet and mark, “I am going to come to God, when I am here the world is shut
out, and my mind cannot speak so loudly.”
Your mind will talk loud sometimes.
You can mark, “This is where when God speaks, I’m going to take notice.”
To know means to be a relative. There is something about relatives; there are
times when they are just relatives and there are others when they are
relatives. It wasn’t just anyone that
was asked to read the 23rd Psalm yesterday at Shirley’s funeral. There were four young men that were
relatives. You are to know God in the
thought that “I am His son or his daughter, and He is my father.”
To know means to regard, and to discover. This sounds out of place until you think
about it. As there are new beginnings
with God then there are new discoveries with God.
1Ch 28:7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for
ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
The commandments are emphasized.
John 6:63 the flesh profits nothing.
I hope that I am humble enough and it is ok with me to tell
me often that “Brother Kelly your flesh profits nothing.” If I feel a rising up then I know that there
is more to die in me.”
The only way that you need to feel unkind is if you feel
unkind on the inside. The spirit
quickens. In a world that is so dead. In a world that I personally think that God
keeps the blinders on us a lot of times, because if we saw all the evil spirits
that are out there then we could not handle it.
There are times when God says, “I’m going to show you some
things.” He lifts the blinder and lets
us see how deadly, evil, and corrupt the world is. We need a quickening from God. The words that He speaks are spirit and they
are life.
My soul, my natural man and spiritual man need
quickening. The imaginations of my heart
and every portion of me needs the living God.
His words are spirit and they are life.
David told Solomon to know God and to serve God. In this audience this morning, I know beyond
a shadow of a doubt that God has His hand on dear children, young people, and
dear saints of God. He wants them to
build spiritually a beautiful temple, a beautiful life for God to dwell in.
I think of different places that this congregation will be
this week. I am challenged that my life
and my spiritual man will be a temple of the living God, beautiful.
I can walk into where ever that I walk with a critical eye
and put on my white glove to test cleanliness.
I can have my attitude and character like any man in the world and you
can too. This is not being a temple of
the living God.
Know God and serve Him with a perfect heart. There are places that I walk in and feel a
resistance. You cannot help that. We are a temple of God and a savor of life to
some and a savor of death to others.
To those that we are a savor of life, they are glad to see
someone standing for truth. Religion is
everywhere. There is one young lady that
doesn’t let me have any open door; her thought is that they have already tried
to save her and “You cannot save me.”
We are also a savor of death to some. When people love darkness and they meet
someone that is beautiful with holiness and the spirit and power of God walking
with God and knowing God, if they love darkness, then you will be a savor of
death. They will not want to be around
you. They don’t have an appreciation for
God and truth.
God searches the heart.
He understands the thoughts of the heart, the mind, and of the
flesh. This scripture covers all sorts
of imaginations, of the mind, of the heart, and of the flesh.
If you seek God He will be found and if you forsake Him then
you will be lost forever.
1Ch 28:10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee
to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
Take heed now. God
has chosen us of the church in Paradise to be beautiful spiritually. God told David to tell Solomon to be strong
and do it.
There are many in this audience that are tired, weary, and
exhausted. God would want you to get
some rest. Jesus had to go away and
rest. The disciples had to get
rest. God wanted David to instruct
Solomon that God had chosen him.
God has chosen you to be a beautiful temple for Him. God had David give Solomon the pattern of the
Temple. This is the pattern of what God
in the Spirit had given to David: the pattern for the porch, for the house, and
for the treasuries.
David gave Solomon the pattern for the treasuries. Are you an individual that God has chosen to
be a treasury of wealth to help someone else?
I don’t have a million dollars, but we have a treasury of faith in God. We have the treasury of the testimony of many
that came broken to the gospel and now are whole.
One young man told me that he had hit rock bottom. If people will hit rock bottom and come to
the end of themselves, there will be individuals that have been given the
pattern of treasuries to help them.
One gave me the testimony that they were so broke that they
couldn’t get caught up and besides had to be in jail every weekend so could not
be in church. God helped that young man
to work and get out of debt. He served
his time in jail and God turned his life around.
In California I was told the story of a young man that got
saved that had blown his mind on drugs.
He needed a job so a brother that chose to be a treasury of wealth to
the young man gave him a job. The young
man didn’t know how to pick up the tools at the end of the day so the brother
would go around after him after he was done working and pick up his tools so
they would be ready to work again tomorrow.
The young man was able to get his life together over time.
Many don’t know how to be a good mother or father. May God help you and me to be individuals
that are beautiful with the treasure.
There is a big price to pay for this.
We are Americans but that doesn’t make us church of God. We believe the American story that life ought
to be good for everyone but that isn’t how it is.
Do we have the pattern for the upper chamber? Is there something in our life where we are
always living below our privileges? “How
many times,” God says, “Do I have to tell you that I love you?” My shoes don’t have holes in them. The light bill is paid; there is gas in both
rigs. God has never failed us.
What am I doing down in the little chamber saying, “How will
God do this?”
Where are we living?
What chamber are we in? Solomon
built the inner chamber, the court of the house, the place for the treasuries
of the dedicated things. How are we with
this? How beautiful is our treasury of
the dedicated things? What all have you
and I given to God? Give everything to
Him.
Give Him your time.
The God I serve gives time back.
You will never have enough time for yourself. How are your treasures? What shape is the treasury of the dedicated
things?
Solomon was about 20 and David was 70. How many here feel a conviction from God that
you need a new beginning? David isn’t
here but God ordained that we be spoken to by His son Jesus Christ.
If you are here and you’ve grown lukewarm and have neglected
your soul and feel that your house and life are not a beautiful temple. If you feel that your spiritual life is in
sad condition because of slothfulness and indifference, or because you did not
take seriously what God has spoken to you about.
My aunt told me after my father was killed. His only sister called and asked my mother to
come. My mother asked me to go. My aunt told me that she was so embarrassed
that she had allowed God to be crowded out of her life. It happens.
God sends wake up calls. If any
part of God has been crowded out of your life or any part of bible truth, then
I wouldn’t even wait for the song to come to the altar.
You want to really know God.
Whatever you need to do to get it right then settle it that you are going
to know God. “I want to know God in a
greater way. I am going to know God as
He would have me to know Him.”
What pattern has God given you by His Holy Spirit? What does God want you to do? Jesus Christ is making intercession for us
this morning. He knows the pattern. He knows what He wants you to know. He knows and whatever He told Solomon, He is
telling you, “Be strong and do it.”
