Psa 1:1 Blessed is
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Blessed – happy is the man!
We see people in the world seeking happiness. Some seek it in money, some in popularity and
the praise of man, others in living a good life. If they are without God, then they will be
selfish and as such can never be completely happy.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly.
Psa 81:8
Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt
hearken unto me;
Psa 81:9
There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any
strange god.
Psa 81:10 I am
the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth
wide, and I will fill it.
Psa 81:11 But my people would not hearken to my voice;
and Israel would none of me.
Psa 81:12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts'
lust: and they walked in their own
counsels.
Psa 81:13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
God’s counsel is to worship Him, have Him first and walk in
His way and He will meet all our needs.
The counsel of the ungodly is lack of faith. They think they need to work to see their
needs met or what they want will never be accomplished.
They don’t accept the fact that they are the Lords by
creation and He knows what is best for them and their life. They don’t believe that every good and
perfect gift comes from the Father of lights with whom is no variableness
neither shadow of turning.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all
these things shall be added unto you.
They don’t accept the fact that they were created to serve
God, created by God, and He knows them and what will satisfy them to the utmost
is serving Him and receiving only the very best from His hand.
Their counsel doesn’t have a purpose other than for the
moment; they are not looking at the big picture of eternity or sometimes of
even tomorrow or their own family. They
choose foolishly because of this.
Only through God can we have a vision beyond ourselves and
the present moment. We can have good and
true goals that will aim for eternity and will give us an excellent, happy life
here.
God’s counsel:
Rev 3:17
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased
with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy
of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that
thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine
eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be
zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any
man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with
him, and he with me.
Rev 3:21
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with
me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne.
His end is that we will be rich, with abundant supply,
copious abundance. His end is that we
have fellowship with Him, the creator, the Almighty God, the everlasting
Father, the God of all peace, the wonderful counselor, the comforter. He is all knowing; He knows tomorrow and next
year. He knows the best for us to the
end of our days.
He wants to make His abode with us. He wants to daily be our delight and to have
us daily as His delight. This is the
purpose to His counsel.
Psa 1:1 Blessed is
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Blessed is the man that doesn’t stand in the way of sinners. Happy is the man that doesn’t stand in the
way of sinners.
Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the
strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is
the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be
which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it.
The end of the way of sinners is destruction. It is easy to find the way that leads to
destruction. It requires little work to
follow it. Anything that has
accomplishment as an end requires work and discipline to complete it.
It is easy to go the way of the world but will give no
satisfaction at the end. All you have to
do is look into a few of the faces of those that are following that way and you
will see dissatisfaction and little happiness.
To enter the way that leads to life, you must apply
yourself, but it is worth it. There is
satisfaction, there is joy, there is peace, there is righteousness and a clear
conscience in the kingdom of the Lord.
His way is a sure
way; the way of sinners is unsure. His
way is to hear and obey. We build on the
rock and not on sinking sand. When the
storms of life come, if we are in His way, we can stand.
Pro 13:14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares
of death.
Pro 13:15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way
of transgressors is hard.
Pro 13:16 Every prudent man
dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his
folly.
Pro 13:17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but
a faithful ambassador is health.
Pro 13:18 Poverty and shame shall
be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof
shall be honoured.
Pro 13:19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul:
but it is abomination to fools to depart
from evil.
Pro 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall
be destroyed.
Pro 13:21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous
good shall be repayed.
The Law of the wise is a fountain of life! Abundance,
overflowing, copious life! It will keep
you from the snares. You will have good
understanding, favor, deal with knowledge, and have health and be wise.
You can see that it takes some work to have this: a faithful
ambassador, desire accomplished, and walking with wise men.
The way of sinners is hard.
They lay open their folly; fall into mischief, have poverty and shame,
are destroyed, and are pursued by evil.
To the righteous good shall be repayed.
Psa 1:1 Blessed is
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Blessed is the man that doesn’t sit in the seat of the
scornful.
Pro 1:20
Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
Pro 1:21
She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the
gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
Pro 1:22
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners
delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
Pro 1:23
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I
will make known my words unto you.
Pro 1:24
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and
no man regarded;
Pro 1:25
But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
Pro 1:26
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
Pro 1:27
When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a
whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Pro 1:28
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me
early, but they shall not find me:
Pro 1:29
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Pro 1:30
They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
Pro 1:31
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled
with their own devices.
Scorners hate knowledge and take delight in ignorance. They set at nought all counsel and will not
listen to reproof. They do not choose
the fear of the Lord, “Therefore” the scripture says, “shall they eat of the
fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices.”
God says, “Because I have called and you refused, I also
will laugh at your calamity and will mock when your fear comes upon you. They shall call but I will not answer, they
shall seek me, but they shall not find me. For they hated knowledge and did not
choose the fear of the Lord.”
Blessed is the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord
and in His law doth He meditate day and night.
Psa 1:2
But his delight is in the law of
the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that
bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and
whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water… Here we see again God’s abundance. There is not just plenty of water, there is
an abundance, a whole river.
God’s promise to us:
He will bring forth his fruit in his season, his leaf shall not wither,
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 1:4
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Psa 1:5
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in
the congregation of the righteous.
Psa 1:6
For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the
ungodly shall perish.
Happy is the man!
